Applications are submitted via the “My Pages” (“Mínar síður”) member portal (login with electronic ID).
Different funds apply to employees in the private sector and the public sector.
VFÍ's Union funds include:
• Sick Leave Funds (“Sjúkrasjóður”/”Styrktarsjóður”)
Provides financial support when a member is unable to work due to illness after statutory sick-leave rights have been exhausted. Also offers grants for health-related and wellness activities.
• Vocational Training / Education Funds (“Starfsmenntunarsjóðir”)
Support continuing education, courses, conferences, workshops and professional development.
• Holiday Fund (“Orlofssjóður”)
Receives contributions for members working for the State, municipalities and most employers in the general labour market (except consulting engineering firms). The fund owns holiday properties across Iceland that members can rent, subsidises Icelandair gift certificates, and offers a Travel Voucher providing discounted hotel accommodation.
A dedicated booking website is used for the Holiday Fund, with login through electronic ID.
